Chelsea has an aging population of mailboxes and posts. There was an increased number of mailboxes that were hit either by heavy snow or by the snowplow because the box is too low to the ground. Residents when working outside should consider updating their mailbox and support. Everyone enjoys home mail delivery but very little attention is paid to a homes mailbox.
Some design ideas are listed here. Be aware however that mailboxes are in the Towns right of way and are allowed to be there as a convenience to residents. These guidelines will not guarantee a box never gets hit but should significantly reduce the chances.
